Playground Global Secures $410M for Fund III and Deep Tech Startups

Playground Global, the renowned early-stage venture capital firm based in Palo Alto, has successfully raised $410 million in capital commitments for its third fund. This brings Playground's total assets under management to an impressive $1.2 billion. Notably, co-founder and general partner Peter Barrett, a former video game engineer, played a pivotal role in kickstarting Elon Musk's career.


Fund III follows the blueprint of its predecessor, Fund II, with a focus on early-stage investments in deep tech and science companies. Capital deployments will center around seed and Series A companies, with initial investments ranging from $1 million to $20 million. Playground Global's commitment to nurturing innovation underscores its position as a key player in the venture capital landscape, driving advancements in the tech and science sectors.
